Trainee Accountants – Stephenson Smart

Are you ready to take on board the challenges of an accounting career?

Are you also keen to work in a forward-thinking accountancy firm with over 100 staff and more than 4,500 clients, located in multiple offices in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Being based in a friendly team at either our or office you will receive excellent training, mentoring and support gaining exposure to a range of clients.

Your role will be varied, enjoyable and challenging. The role is hands on, supporting your team with a portfolio of clients assisting with financial and management accounts preparation for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies along with personal and business tax returns. You will carry out bookkeeping activities including journal postings and ledger transactions so numeracy skills, accuracy and possessing an eye for detail will be paramount.

Subject to your satisfactory progression you will be given the opportunity of being seconded to ad hoc assignments (including audit) to enhance your development and experience.

When required you will assist with general administrative duties including meeting and greeting clients, filing, answering the telephone and supporting the team to meet deadlines as required.

To be considered for this role you will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics plus 2 A levels (or equivalent). We would welcome applicants who are currently studying AAT level 3 or 4 or hold an accounting or business related degree. The successful applicant will be supported in their professional development through AAT/ACCA/ACA/CTA qualifications through a level 3, 4 or 7 apprenticeship. The study programme allows for generous study leave in addition to 22 days annual leave plus statutory public holidays.

This growing accountancy firm has a long and respected history, headed by a well-known and established partner group. The firm has a great reputation for being a friendly and supportive place to work, providing their staff with challenging and varied roles.

The teams at King’s Lynn and Fakenham are growing at a steady rate due to our expanding client base and we have ambitious plans for the next few years. Overall, this is a unique opportunity for someone with good numeracy skills and a positive attitude to develop and grow as part of our accounting team.
