Mike joined Stephenson Smart having obtained a degree in Economics at Leicester University. He qualified in 1996 and is responsible for the firms audit compliance and practice assurance matters. He acts for a diverse portfolio of clients and specialises in corporate structuring, taxation matters, advising on company incorporations and charity audits.
Martyn qualified in 2003 and was appointed a partner in 2010. He is responsible for our Fakenham office and acts for a diverse portfolio of clients. He advises on a wide range of business areas including audit, taxation and corporate accounting.
Martyn also recently qualified as an ATOL reporting accountant, which allows him to submit ATOL Accountants' Reports to the Civil Aviation Authority.
Clive is senior partner of Stephenson Smart. He is a past president of the East Anglian District Society and was also previously a member of the Small Practitioners Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales. He has a wide variety of clients, including international companies but specialises in hospital consultants, the fishing industry and advises on Capital Gains & Inheritance Tax planning.
Clive recently gained his certificate in Probate and Estate administration and is our Head of Legal Practice.
Chris joined Stephenson Smart in 2005 having obtained a degree in Finance at the University of East Anglia. Chris qualified in 2008 and now works in our Wisbech, March and Downham Market offices. He advises clients of all sizes on issues ranging from basic accounts and tax returns to the more specialised areas of accountancy and tax planning, including Capital Gains and Inheritance Tax planning.
Chris recently gained his certificate in Probate and Estate administration.
Claire joined Stephenson Smart in 1996 qualifying in 2001. Claire acts for a variety of local businesses and individuals and aims to support them and help them to achieve their objectives. In addition to our core work of business and tax advisory and accountancy she also carries out the firms probate and trust work given she is member of The Society of Trust and estate Practitioners (STEP).
Her more specialised work includes dealing with trusts and estate accounts, administration and tax affairs including annual self-assessment and calculation and reporting of IHT events as well as advising clients on inheritance and capital gains tax planning.
Henry joined Stephenson Smart in 2008 having completed an Economics and Finance degree at Keele University. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2011 and a Chartered Tax Advisor in 2014.
Henry is responsible for a portfolio of clients from a wide variety of sectors, ranging from individuals, to group companies. Henry has experience in delivering a broad range of services to clients including advising on inheritance tax planning and the maximisation of capital gains tax reliefs.
Nicola joined Stephenson Smart in 2004 and spent her first four years with the firm working in the payroll department. Nicola became fully qualified in 2013 and has broad experience of dealing with owner-managed businesses, offering business advice and dealing with a comprehensive range of compliance matters, including audit and taxation.
Derek is the firms Office Manager who joined Stephenson Smart in 2007 having previously worked in the banking sector. Derek responsible for organising all of the administrative activities that facilitate the smooth running of the practice allowing the Partners to dedicate their time to clients.
Andy joined Stephenson Smart in 1988 and oversees the internal IT systems for all the offices within the firm.
He has a thorough understanding of the main accounting software programmes used by our clients and offers assistance and training internally to the accountancy and bookkeeping staff and upon request assists clients to install
s Accounting and Payroll software on their own systems.
Eric joined Mellor Bellamy at their Wisbech Office in 1983 and qualified in 1987. During his time at Mellor Bellamy he was in charge of the Downham Market Office and became Audit Manager. Following the merger of Mellor Bellamy and Stephenson Smart in 2011 he transferred to the King's Lynn office. He deals with a diverse range of clients varying from sole traders to corporate entities, assisting and advising on accounting and taxation matters.
Neil joined Stephenson Smart as a trainee in 2003 and undertook his AAT qualification. After qualifying, he took a six month sabbatical where he backpacked around the world. Based in the King's Lynn office he undertakes a wide variety of accounts, audit and taxation work for businesses of all sizes, but predominately with owner-managed businesses. Neil's extensive professional experience means that his knowledge and skills can be tailored to each client's individual circumstances, priorities and goals.
Rebecca has been with Stephenson Smart since she graduated with a degree in Business and Management Science at the University of Hertfordshire in 2004. Rebecca is currently studying for her professional accountancy qualification. Based in the King's Lynn office, she manages a wide and varied portfolio of clients, dealing with personal tax matters through to the audit of limited companies.
Claire joined Stephenson Smart in 2013 after spending twelve years working in payroll for a large regional employer. She has a wealth of knowledge and practical experience dealing with payroll matters for a wide variety of businesses both large and small.
Claire is responsible for overseeing the day to day duties of our King's Lynn payroll department and is available to assist our payroll teams in Great Yarmouth, Fakenham, Wisbech and March when required. With auto-enrolment Claire has experience guiding businesses through their staging dates and has assisted many large regional businesses fulfil their automatic enrolment obligations.
Leigh qualified in 1989 and joined Stephenson Smart in 1992. He is based at the King's Lynn office and is responsible for a diverse portfolio of clients covering all business sectors including manufacturing, farming, construction, insurance, leisure and hospitality and professional firms. He deals with a wide range of business matters, specialising in corporate accounts and auditing, taxation, pension scheme audits and legal practice audits.
Sean joined Stephenson Smart in 2007 having graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Economics. He qualified in 2011. Sean lives in King's Lynn and is based in the Fakenham office. He acts for a variety of clients ranging from the audit of corporate pension schemes and charities to advising individuals on taxation.
Mellissa joined the firm in 2010 having gained a first class honours degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Lincoln. She qualified in 2014 and now manages a wide variety of clients from the King's Lynn office covering small sole trade businesses to audits of larger group companies. Mellissa has close day to day involvement with many clients giving advice on record keeping, VAT compliance and tax issues.
Mike joined Stephenson Smart in 2005 and qualified in 2012. He is based in our Fakenham office and advises a wide range of clients on areas such as audit, taxation, VAT and corporate accounting.
Mike also has a keen interest in cloud accounting and works with new and established businesses to help streamline their business accounting systems and allowing them access to real-time accounts information. He has also recently qualified as an ATOL reporting accountant.
Paul joined Stephenson Smart in 2008, having worked for another local practice for over 20 years. Paul qualified in 2007 and is based in our King's Lynn office, he deals with clients of various sizes from sole traders to large corporate entities, and has many years' experience of managing and advising clients on tax and financial reporting requirements.
Alex joined Stephenson Smart in 2015 following the acquisition of the Great Yarmouth office from BDO. Alex qualified in 2014 and still works in our Great Yarmouth office where he deals with a broad portfolio of individuals and businesses both large and small. Alex works closely with clients in an advisory and compliance role involving accountancy, corporate tax matters. He particularly enjoys assisting clients with the provision of management reporting systems and has vast experience using Sage accounting software.
Veronique joined Stephenson Smart in 2006 having received a degree in Politics from the University of Nottingham. She qualified in 2010 and has subsequently managed a wide portfolio of clients from small sole trader start-ups up to the audit of limited companies. She also enjoys advising on corporate and personal taxation, VAT matters and compliance. Veronique lives in King's Lynn with her husband and young family.
Stuart joined Stephenson Smart in 2013, when the practice of Alan Day & Co was acquired, which he joined in 1996. Stuart has experience in all aspects of accounting, auditing and taxation which he combines with commercial awareness to help provide clients with advice and tax planning services.
Based in our March office, Stuart regularly undertakes work on VAT and management accounts and enjoys assisting clients with the provision of management information reporting systems such as Sage and Quickbooks.
Sarah joined Stephenson Smart in 2011 and qualified in 2014. Based at the King's Lynn office, Sarah deals with a range of clients from sole traders and partnerships to limited companies and charities. She has experience of providing a range of services to a variety of clients working in different business sectors. Sarah specialises in the accountancy and audit of Academies and works with several local schools.
Paul joined Stephenson Smart in 2013, when the practice of Alan Day & Co was acquired, which he joined in 2007. He trained for a mid-tier firm in Suffolk. Based in our March office, he manages a wide range of clients, dealing with personal tax, pension scheme and corporate and management accounts. He is always on hand for clients to chat to if they need help or advice with any accountancy related issues.
Paul also has a keen interest in cloud accounting and works with new and established businesses to help streamline their business accounting systems and allowing them access to real-time accounts information. He recently obtained his Quickbooks Online Advanced Certification.
